Hornet Honey

In this packaging project, I chose to create a series with a southwestern twist. I started by browsing the honey selection at grocery stores and online, and I found that most competitors were focused on being “raw,” “organic,” and “healthy.” I began to wonder what else honey had to offer.

Among a sea of yellow in the honey aisle, I decided to use the southwestern turquoise to draw the viewer in. To avoid competing with the bold color, I chose a flat design that wraps around the product to gently guide the eye around the product. Balancing modern design with western style, I chose a clean sans serif for body copy and an elevated serif for the logo – with a script to add in some southern mama charm.
